Aletschbord Vantage Point

Aletschbord Vantage Point is a famous lookout point over the Aletsch Glacier at an elevation of 2.138m (7,014ft) above the sea level, located in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. Drive with care as this is a mountain road with dropoffs.

The road to the summit, located in the Swiss Alps, is unpaved. Avoid driving in this area if unpaved mountain roads aren't your strong point. The summit hosts some restaurants, a hotel and a chapel called Kapelle Belalp – Lüsge. It was built in 1883 by Gervas Klingel, the owner of the nearby hotel as an Anglican church for the English tourists, today it is mainly used as wedding chapel.

The road has narrow parts. It’s usually impassable in winters. It’s a challenging drive. Always check the weather forecast before you start your journey.  The journey offers breathtaking views of the Great Aletsch Glacier.
