How to get by car to Heidelberger Hut?

Heidelberger Hütte is a high mountain refuge at an elevation of 2.264m (7,427ft) above sea level, located in the Swiss canton of Graubünden, near the Austrian border.

When was Heidelberger Hut built?

Set high in the Silvretta Mountains, the hut was constructed between 1887-1889. On 19th August 1889, after a two-year construction phase, the hut was inaugurated by the Heidelberg division of the German Alpine Club (DAV).

How long is the road to Heidelberger Hut?

The road to the hut, via the Fimbatal, is entirely unpaved. While a 4x4 vehicle would be suitable, the road is closed to private vehicles. Starting from Ischgl, a ski resort village in the Paznaun valley of the Austrian state of Tyrol, the route is 13.4 km (8.32 miles) long. Throughout this distance, there's an elevation gain of 907 m, with an average gradient of 6.76%. The road is usually impassable in winters.
