Puente de Montañana-Alsamora Road

Located within the Serra del Montsec mountain range, in the Pre-Pyrenees, the road is 11.2 km long and links the villages of Puente de Montañana (in the province of Huesca, Aragon) and Alsamora (in the province of Lleida, Catalonia. It’s a balcony road running along the river Noguera Ribagorçana, with great views of its turquoise waters.

It’s asphalted with some narrow parts. High risk of rock slides. There are not many roads like this in Europe. The drive marks the border between Aragón and Catalonia. The scenery is quite nice. It's the main road to access the hair rising Congost de Mont-rebei gorge. It’s a bridle path carved out of the cliff face of the fluvial gorge where one mistake it's a free fall to your death. Be careful in the gorge sector: it is not suitable for people with vertigo or who are not used to heights.
