Travel Guide to the Peña Del Altar Refuge
Refugio Peña Del Altar is a high mountain refuge at an elevation of 1.791m (5,875ft) above the sea level, located in the province of Jaén in the autonomous community of Andalusia in south-central Spain.
The road to the summit, located within the Sierra de la Pandera mountain range, is gravel, rocky, tippy and bumpy at times. The road is usually impassable from October to June (weather permitting). Great trail for experienced wheelers. Avoid driving in this area if unpaved mountain roads aren't your strong point. 4x4 vehicle recommended. Stay away if you're scared of heights. Expect a trail pretty steep. Thunderstorm activity can quickly change unpaved roads to four-wheel-drive condition or make them impassable.
