Where is Las Banderillas?

The peak, also known as Cima Banderillas, is located in the autonomous community of Andalusia, in the southern part of the country, within the Natural Park Sierras de Cazorla, Segura and the Villas.

Why is there a road to Las Banderillas?

Two shelters sit just 30 meters apart at the summit ridge. The original building is a small, vaulted hut—noted on maps as a fire lookout tower—with room for 3 to 4 people. A larger, adjacent annex accommodates 8 to 10 people. During the summer season, a park ranger stays in the smaller hut and provides keys for the large building. For the rest of the year, the larger shelter remains open and free to use.

How long is the road to Las Banderillas?

The road to the summit is totally unpaved, with loose rocks, many steep parts and narrow sections. A 4x4 vehicle is required. Starting from Fuente Segura, the road is 15.5 km long.
