The pass is located in the autonomous community of Andalusia, in the southern part of the country, within the Sierra de Castril Natural Park.

The road to the summit is totally unpaved, with rocky sections and loose gravel, running through one of the oldest Corsican pine forests in Europe. It features narrow parts, steep sections and 7 hairpin turns. A 4x4 vehicle is required. It’s usually open year-round.
