Road trip guide: Conquering Puerto de Peña Hincada
Peña Hincada is a mountain pass at an elevation of 1.414m (4,639ft) above the sea level, located in La Rioja, Spain.
The road to the summit, located within the Sierra de Cebollera Natural Park, is paved in poor conditions, with several patches. It’s called LR-232.
The summit is also known as Piedra Hincada o Canto Hincado. Every winter many snow plugs clear the road but also break the pavement. Expect low traffic. The road is pretty steep. Starting from Villanueva de Cameros the maximum gradient is 6.2%. But starting from Brieva de Cameros are some sections up to 17%.
