Morrón de Espuña is a high mountain peak at an elevation of 1.574m (5,164ft) above the sea level, located in Murcia region, in southeastern Spain.
The paved road to the summit, also known as Morrón de Totana, is narrow and steep. The summit features some magnificent views over the entire valley. The peak is located within the Sierra de Espuña mountain range. At the summit there’s some military equipment with radars atop. The road can be closed anytime due to snow.
There are 2 routes to reach the summit. Starting from Totana, the ascent is 27 km long. Over this distance the elevation gain is 1.314 meters. The average percentage is 4.9 %. And starting from Alhama, the ascent is 25 km long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 1.349 meters. The average percentage is 5.4 %. The most challenging part of the climb is the last section. It’s 2.4km with an average gradient of 7.97% and some sections up to 12%.
