
Alto de Capileira
Alto de Capileira is a mountain pass at an elevation of 1.436m (4,711ft) above the sea level, located in the southern side of the Sierra Nevada mountain range known as the Alpujarras, in the province of Granada, in Spain.
The road to the summit is called A-4129. It’s asphalted but pretty steep. At the final 500 metres the road surface is perhaps best described as ‘semi-surfaced’, with some tarmac and some packed earth segments.
It has been featured in the Spanish Vuelta race. Starting from Órgiva, the ascent is 19.18 km long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 984 meters. The average percentage is 5.1 %.
