The road to the summit is totally unpaved. It’s a service road for the chairlifts. It’s a narrow, unpaved mountain track with a surface of packed dirt and loose gravel, cutting through a rocky high-altitude landscape. A 4x4 vehicle is required, though the track is closed to private vehicles.

Starting from the parking lot at Portalet Formigal estación de esqui, near Col du Pourtalet, the road to the summit is 3km long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 284 m and the average gradient is 9.46%.
