CV800 is a delightful yet challenging road
CV800 is the name of a very scenic (and delightful) drive located in the southeast of Valencian Community, in Spain.
Set high in the Sierra de la Carrasqueta range, the road is totally paved. It’s also known as Carretera de la Carrasqueta. This is a wonderful road passing through spectacular scenery. It’s very popular with cyclists, motorcyclists and other road users who come along its winding route.
The road is 35.9 km (22.30 miles) long, running south-North from Sant Joan d'Alacant (on n-332) to the paved A7 road, near La Sarga. Best from South to North in our opinion. The road is steep, hitting an 8.4% of maximum gradient through some of the ramps.
The road is typically open all year round, with the occasional closure in winters due to dangerous weather conditions (snow and fog). It climbs up to Port de la Carrasqueta and tops out at 1.023m (3,356ft) above the sea level. The summit offers wonderful panoramic views of l’Alacantí valley. Be sure to stop at the Venta Teresa café/restaurant to take in welcome refreshment and enjoy the views.
