The road through Foces Rio Aller is a rare gem

Located in the community autonomous of Asturias, in northern Spain, the tiny road through Foces Rio Aller is a rare gem through a canyon. It’s one of the most scenic canyon roads of Spain.

Foces Rio Aller

Tucked away in the central Mountain of Asturias, the road is totally paved running through the Foces of the Aller River, an imposing gorge created by the karst erosion of the waters of the Aller River. It’s called AE-6 road.

The drive is extremely challenging due its narrowness. In parts, it’s totally impassable for 2 cars at the same time, so proceed cautiously and hope no other vehicles come from the other direction. Not recommended if you don't know how to reverse. The road was built in 1979.

The most challenging part of the drive is 3.0 km (1.86 miles) long, running from La Paraya to Ruayer along the Aller river. That road leads up to Puerto de Vegarada. Be careful: this road is not for the sissies. One mistake can have consequences.
