Driving the wild Puerto del Portillo

Puerto del Portillo is a mountain pass at an elevation of 1.250m (4,101ft) above the sea level, located in the province of Salamanca, Castile and León, in Spain.

Nestled in Las Batuecas-Sierra de Francia Natural Park, the road to the summit is totally paved. It’s called SA-201. The summit hosts a parking lot and a viewpoint. The pass is steep, hitting an 11.5% through some of the ramps.

The pass is 18.2 km (11.30 miles) long with 10 hairpin turns, running south-north Las Mestas (in Cáceres) towards La Alberca (in Salamanca). The pass has been featured in the Spanish Vuelta race.
