The road to Pico Faeda is a must
Pico Faeda is a high mountain peak at an elevation of 2.008m (6,587ft) above the sea level, located on the boundary of León and Zamora provinces in the autonomous community of Castilla y León, in northern Spain.
Nestled in the Sierra de la Cabrera (Montes de León) mountain range, the road to the summit is totally unpaved. 4x4 vehicle required. The summit is virtually inaccessible in the winter due to large amounts of snow. The road is tough and the last meters is a maintained fire road.
Starting from La Baña (in León), the ascent is 12,2km long. Over this distance the average gradient is 6,9% hitting a 15,7% through some of the ramps. And starting from San Ciprián (Zamora), the ascent is 9,6km long. The average gradient is 7,2%, with some ramps up to 19,5%.
