Why is Loch Naver famous?

Tucked away in the northern part of the country, the freshwater lake is 10 km (6 mi) long and 33 m (108 ft) deep. It is part of the Flow Country, known for its peatlands and ecosystems. The village of Altnaharra, located near the loch, provides some basic amenities for visitors.

Is the road along Loch Naver paved?

Surrounded by rugged hills and moorlands, the scenic road running along the northern shore of the lake is extremely narrow and challenging. It’s a single lane road impassable for 2 medium cars. Not recommended if you don't know how to reverse.  You’ll hardly ever meet another vehicle. It’s a desolate road fairly flat. It’s totally paved and subject to flooding on the very shores of Loch Naver.
