Montejunto

Montejunto is a mountain peak at an elevation of 655m (2,148ft) above the sea level, located in centre west of Portugal. At the summit there are some churches and chapels, and several communication facilities.

Located in the Montejunto-Estrela mountain range, the road to the summit is asphalted but narrow in parts. It’s called Rua do Montejunto. It’s the highest natural viewpoint around this region. The summit affords wide views.

The road is pretty steep. Starting from Vila Verde dos Francos, the ascent is 8.2 km long. Over this distance the elevation gain is 461 meters. The average gradient is 5.62%. On a contiguous peak there are some airforce radars.
