
Road trip guide: Conquering Pico da Santinha
Pico da Santinha is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 1.597m (5,239ft) above the sea level, located in the district of Guarda, in the Centro Region of Portugal.
Set high in the Serra da Estrela mountain range, the road to the summit is totally unpaved. A 4x4 vehicle is required. The road is 14.9km (9.25 miles) long, running from Folgosinho to the paved N232 road. The road to the summit is very steep, hitting a 15% of maximum gradient through some of the ramps. The summit hosts a weather station.
