Set high in the Serra da Estrela mountain range, the road to the summit is totally unpaved. A 4x4 vehicle is required. A white tower-like structure of about 2 meters high marks the actual summit. The views are truly amazing.

The road to the summit is very steep, hitting a 7% of maximum gradient through some of the ramps. Starting at the paved N339 road, the ascent is 1.4 km (0.86 miles) long. Over this distance the elevation gain is 67 meters. The average gradient is 4.78%.
