Driving the remote Henningsværveien (Road 816)
Henningsværveien (Road 816) is the only access road to Henningsvaer, a fishing village located in Nordland county, Norway. It’s one of the most beautiful drives in the world.
The asphalted road is set on a group of tiny islands seemingly dropped into the ocean with some of the most mind-blowing scenery. There are many excellent photo opportunities here. Don’t forget your camera! Along the way you’ll discover mountains, crystal clear water with sandy beaches and beautiful bridges connecting islands.
Located off the southern coast of the large island of Austvågøya in the Lofoten archipelago, Henningsvaer sits on an island amongst several other small islands. It is said to be the “Venice of Lofoten”. Starting from the main E10 Road, the drive is 7.7 km long via a narrow waterside road that clings to the base of the mountain.
