The tunnel is located in the southern part of the country, within the Folgefonna nasjonalpark (Folgefonna National Park).

How long is the Folgefonna Tunnel?

The tunnel runs under the Folgefonna glacier and it’s 11,150 meters (36,580 ft) long. It was opened in 2001.

Is the Folgefonna Tunnel paved?

The road through the tunnel links the villages of Tokheim and Austrepollen. It is fully paved. It's called County Road 551 (Fv551). The tunnel is closed to pedestrians and bikes.
