Located in the southern part of Norway, the road is named after Haustsjøen Lake.

Is the Haustsjøen Mountain Road Unpaved?

The road is completely unpaved. It reaches a peak elevation of 1,035m (3,395 ft) above sea level, winding through a stunning mountain landscape dotted with small mountain huts.

Can I drive my vehicle on the Haustsjøen Mountain Road?

Although it’s possible to drive most of the route with a regular car, good ground clearance is necessary from Reinslia eastward for a couple of kilometers. A 4x4 vehicle is recommended for a smoother experience. 

How Long is the Haustsjøen Mountain Road?

The road stretches 22 km (13.67 miles), running west-east from Grimsbu to Fylkesveg 686 (FV686) Road, east of Alvdal.
