Adventure along the Haustsjøen Mountain Road
Located just by the Dovre mountains in central Norway, the Haustsjøen Mountain Road is a very scenic drive between Grimsbu and Fylkesveg 686 east from Alvdal. It’s a toll road.
The road is totally unpaved. It’s 24 km long and climbs up to 1.035 meter above the sea level. It’s possible to drive the whole trip with an ordinary car on the main part of this road, but it’s necessary to have good ground clearance from Reinslia and eastward a couple of kilometres.
A 4x4 vehicle is recommended. This is an exquisite winding mountain drive with sharp and blind curves leading the traveler over the mountains. The road runs through a beautiful mountain landscape with small mountain huts.
