Albergo Saltner Edelweiss is a high mountain hotel at an elevation of 1.351m (4,429ft) above the sea level, located in the South Tyrol province of north Italy. The climb is simply brutal, with a maximum gradient of 30%.

The road to the summit is mostly asphalted but the last part is closed to vehicles. It’s said to be one of the Italy’s steepest climbs. Starting in Bolzano, the road is 6.9km (4,3 mi) long. Over this distance the average gradient is 15.4%.
