The most scenic part of the route is located within the Parco nazionale del Golfo di Orosei e del Gennargentu. The road is 63.3 km long and links Santa Maria Navarrese, a coastal and tourist town in the province of Ogliastra and Dorgali, a town the Province of Nuoro.
The road is paved. It’s one of the most amazing and beautiful roads in Sardinia as well as one of the most dangerous routes. The entire route is very scenic, pits, tunnels and an infinite number of dangerous turns. Traffic can become heavy during summer in and around touristic areas. Beware of high winds; gusts in excess of 100 kph (60 mph) are common from September to April.
