Elisabetta Refuge
Rifugio Elisabetta Soldini Montanaro is a high mountain refuge at an elevation of 2.195m (7,201ft) above the sea level, located in northern Italy, in the autonomous region of Aosta Valley.
Located in the Italian Alps, the road to the hut is mostly gravel. Starting from Courmayeur, the beginning is paved, and occasionally steep. It’s called strada della Val Veny. But after several kilometres, in La Visaille, the road is closed to cars.
After this town, the road continues paved for a while to Lago Combal. Then becomes a good quality gravel road. Originally built in XVIII century as a military road, the road includes some amazing hairpins. It’s a difficult climb, mainly due to the road surface: big stones, slippery gravel, bumpy surface.
