The pass, also referred to as Colle Cotte Plain, lies in the Piedmont region, in the northern part of the nation. It is one of several passes located on the spectacular Assietta Road (Strada Provinciale 173), connecting Susa to Sestriere in the western Italian Alps.

Is the road to Colle di Costa Piana unpaved?

The route leading to the summit is entirely unpaved. It functions as a military carriageway that follows the ridge from Pian dell’Alpe to Sestriere. A speed limit of 30 km/h is enforced on the road, and both overtaking and parking outside designated areas are prohibited. Despite the numerous rocks and its rough surface, particularly on curves, the road remains rideable.
