Set high in the Venetian Alps, a mountain range in the south-eastern part of the Alps, the peak is located in the north-eastern part of the country.

The summit hosts a fort called Forte Campomolon, built in 1914, during WWI and offers one of the most impressive landscapes of Basso Trentino.

Is the road to Monte Campomolon unpaved?

The road to the summit is totally unpaved with loose rocks and gravel, very narrow and steep, hitting a 17.1% through some of the ramps. A 4x4 vehicle is required, though it is closed to private motor vehicles.

Starting from Passo Valbona, the road is 1.7km (1.05 miles) long. Over this distance the elevation gain is 68 meters and the average gradient is 4%.
