A memorable road trip to Dondena Refuge

Rifugio Dondena is a high mountain refuge at an elevation of 2.192m (7,191ft) above the sea level, located in the Alps in Aosta Valley, Italy.

Tucked away in the Graian Alps, a mountain range in the western part of the Alps, the road to the hut, also known as Refuge Dondénaz, is unpaved but navigable by all passenger vehicles. The road is usually impassable from October to June (weather permitting).

Located within the Parco Naturale del Mont Avic, the road to the refuge is 10.4km long starting at Chateau. The last 1.1km are closed to private vehicles. 4x4 vehicle required.
