Passo delle Erbe is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 1.993m (6,538ft) above the sea level, located in South Tyrol, in the Italian Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol region.
How long is Passo delle Erbe (Würzjoch)?
The road to the summit, also known as Würzjoch and Ju de Börz, is totally paved. It’s called Strada Provinciale 29 (SP29). The pass is 44.9 km (27.89 miles) long, running west-east from Brixen to San Martino in Badia. The pass links Val Badia and the Lüsen valley of Val d'Isarco. The summit hosts a hotel, a restaurant, and a big parking lot.
Is Passo delle Erbe (Würzjoch) open?
Set high in the heart of the Dolomites mountain range, from the eastern side, the road is open all year round; from the west, it is only accessible from mid-spring to late autumn.
Is Passo delle Erbe (Würzjoch) challenging?
The road is pretty narrow. Along the way it’s usual to stop several times and wait until the cars on the narrow road pass each other. The road to the summit is very steep, hitting a 16.3% of maximum gradient through some of the ramps.
