A dangerous unpaved road to Mezzaluna Pass

Passo della Mezzaluna is a mountain pass at an elevation of 1.449m (4,753ft) above the sea level, located in the Province of Imperia in the Italian region Liguria.

The road to the summit is totally unpaved. The pass (Half-Moon Pass) belongs to the Maritime Alps. 4x4 vehicle required. The road is very narrow. Not recommended to newbies. Along the way you’ll have to deal with some dangerous drop offs.

If you're afraid of heights, it's probably best to keep your eyes forward. It can easily get muddy if it rains making it challenging to get through. Starting from Colle del Garezzo at Strada Provinciale 2 (SP2), the ascent is 7.7 km long. Over this distance the elevation gain is 333 meters. The average gradient is 4.32%.
