Set high in the Pennine Alps, to the south of the Breithorn, the peak, also known as Dos de Rollin, links the southern Switzerland’s Valais canton and the Aosta Valley of northern Italy.

Is Gobba di Rollin open to vehicles?

The summit hosts the highest ski lift in Europe and it’s reachable via a chairlift service road. 4x4 vehicle only. It’s only reachable via the Theodul Pass in summer months, under ideal conditions. It's one of the highest roads of the country. Today it is impossible to get permissions in order to get up Gobba di Rollin. You can arrive up via skies only.

Reaching Gobba di Rollin by 4x4 vehicle

On 2 August 2000 three Land Rover Defender 90s conquered the European altitude record for standard off-road 4x4 vehicles, at 3,911 metres, in the Aosta Valley. They are three crews from the Aosta Valley Land Rover Club, made up of Nicola Corradi, Vincenzo Marcheselli, Fabio Bich, Marco Corradi, Andrea Bryer and Lucia Montrosset, who climbed from Cervini along the ski slopes, reaching the Plateau Rosà and Testa Grigia, up to the arrival station of the Gobba di Rollin ski lift.
