The peak is located in the southwest of the Piedmont region, within the Maira Valley, in the northwestern part of the country, near the French border.

The road to the summit is totally unpaved, with narrow parts and very steep sections hitting a 20.4% of maximum gradient through some of the ramps. The last part of the road is closed to private vehicles. A 4x4 vehicle is required.

Starting from the paved Strada Provinciale 422 road, the ascent is 6.1 km (3.79 miles) long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 553 meters. The average gradient is 9.06%.

Is the road to Monte Bellino open year-round?
