SP22 Road, a sensational drive in Calabria
Strada Provinciale 22 is a very scenic high mountan road located in the heart of the province of Catanzaro of the Calabria region of Italy.
The winding road is totally paved but narrow in parts. It’s 15.4 km (9.56 miles) long, linking the towns of Ciricilla and Buturo.
Nestled on the boundary of Riserva Statale Gariglione – Pisarello and Riserva Statale Coturelle – Piccione, the road tops out at 1.646m (5,400ft) above the sea level. Open to traffic throughout the year, may be closed for short periods in winter when the weather is bad.
