
Prophet Elias Church
Prophet Elias Church is a high mountain chapel at an elevation of 1.743m (5,718ft) above the sea level, located in the western part of the Karditsa regional unit, Greece. It’s one of the highest roads of the country.
Located at the foot of the Pindus mountains, the road is steep and narrow. It’s asphalted in very poor conditions. Open to traffic throughout the year, may be closed for short periods in winter when the weather is bad. Starting from Epar.Od. Karditsas-Argitheas road, the ascent is 3.1 km long, via 3 sharp hairpin turns. The elevation gain is 207 meters. The average gradient is 6.67%.
