Kolona Beach

A nasty road to Kolona Beach

Paralia Kolona is an unexpectedly beautiful and serene beach with crystal clear blue waters and golden sand nestled in the Cycladic island of Kythnos, in Greece.

Located in the Western Cyclades on the western side of the island, it is said to be one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. It’s a narrow strip of land with golden sand and the sea lapping at both of its sides.

Starting from the village of Apokrousi, the road to the beautiful beach is 2.3 km (1.42 mile) long. It is a single lane dangerous at places dirt road. It’s pretty nasty and dangerous. If you want to drive to the beach, have in mind that the road is pretty rough and you will probably need a jeep (or SUV) to go. It is one of the locations that cannot be missed when visiting Kythnos island.
