The steep road to the summit is totally unpaved. It is a chairlift access trail for the Grand Tourmalet ski area. A 4x4 vehicle is required. It’s closed to private vehicles.

Starting from Col du Tourmalet, the road to the summit is 1.6 km long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 240m and the average gradient is 15%.

Is the road to Coume Lounque open year-round?

Set high in the Pyrinees mountain range, the road is totally impassable in winters, usually from October through June.
