A Most Tricky Scenic Drive to Lac de la Glère

Lac de la Glère is a high mountain lake at an elevation of 2.152m (7,060ft) above the sea level, located in the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Occitanie region of south-western France.

Lac de la Glère

Set high in the Néouvielle mountain range, French Pyrenees, the road to the summit is totally unpaved and usually impassable from October to June (weather permitting). Weather can change quickly so be prepared. 4x4 vehicle recommended. Expect a trail pretty steep with some hairpin turns. Near the lake is a mountain hut, known as Refuge de la Glère and built in 1953.
