Fort superieur de Saint-Ours
Fort superieur de Saint-Ours is a military fortress, part of the Maginot Line's Alpine extension, at an elevation of 1.874m (6,148ft) above the sea level, located in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department in southeastern France.
The road to the fortress is gravel, rocky, tippy and bumpy at times. The road is usually impassable from October to June (weather permitting). Avoid driving in this area if unpaved mountain roads aren't your strong point. 4x4 vehicle recommended. Expect a trail pretty steep. The fort was dug into the rocks and built from reinforced concrete and steel. Its construction began in March 1931.
