Prat d'Albis is a drive worth taking

Prat d'Albis is a mountain pass at an elevation of 1.201m (3,940ft) above the sea level, located in the Ariège department in southwestern France in the Occitanie region.

The road to the summit is asphalted, but pretty narrow and twisting. It’s called D421. The journey offers fantastic views, especially on a clear day, overviewing the valley.

The climb has been featured in Tour de France race. It’s a 1st Cat. climb. Starting from Foix, the ascent is 16.70 km long via 8 hairpin turns. Over this distance the elevation gain is 801 m. The average gradient is 6.96% with sections up to 11%.
