The steep and hairpinned Road D80
Located in the Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in south-eastern France, the infamous D80 road isone of the most hairpinned roads in the world.
The road is totally paved but very narrow and steep. It’s 10.7km (6.64 miles) long with 38 hairpin turns, hitting a 10% through some of the ramps.
The road runs from the village of Villargondran (at 654 masl) towards Albiez-le-Jeune (at 1.368 masl). Over this distance, the elevation gain is 714 meters. The average gradient is 6.67%.
