Col de l’Infernet

The old military road to Col de l’Infernet

Col de l’Infernet is a high mountain peak at an elevation of 2.355m (7,726ft) above the sea level, located in the Hautes-Alpes department in southeastern France.

The gravel road to the summit is extremely steep and narrow, with dangerous slippery sections and severe drops. It’s an old military trail designed for army vehicles. Very exposed, with a high accident risk. At the summit there’s an old fort called Fort de l’Infernet. The military fortress was built in the late 1800s as part of the French “système Séré de Rivières.” It can be closed anytime due to snow. This is an old military road that will pass endless old forts/gun placements/barracks/etc.
