Col du Val d'Ese is a mountain pass at an elevation of 1.615 m (5,298 ft) above sea level, located in the Corse-du-Sud department of France on the island of Corsica.

Where is Col du Val d'Ese?

The pass is located between the valleys of Prunelli and Taravo, in the central part of the island. At the summit, there’s a ski station called Ski resort Val d'Ese. It’s the starting point to Col de Scaldasole, what’s said to be the highest road in Corsica at an elevation of 1.938 m (6,358 ft) above sea level.

Is Col du Val d'Ese paved?

The curvy road to the summit is called D27A. It’s fully paved (not in the best condition), yet pretty steep (with sections up to 13.3%), narrow, and with many turns.

How long is Col du Val d'Ese?

Starting from Bastelica, the ascent is 15 km (9.32 miles) long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 859 meters. The average percentage is 5.7%.
