The road, carved into the rock, is fully paved yet very defiant, with many curves, hairpin turns, and very narrow parts. Due to its narrowness, the road is not recommended for beginner riders. It is closed to vehicles longer than 8 m and heavier than 7.5 tons.
How long is the D656 Road?
The road is 5.2 km (3.23 miles) long, running east-west from the border of the Alpes-Maritimes department to the paved D56 Road (also known as Route de Callian).
