
The inhumane Mur de Monieux with 21% ramps
Mur de Monieux is a short but devastatingly steep climb in the Vaucluse department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France. It’s one of the steepest roads of the country.
The road is totally paved but narrow. Starting from the paved D1, at 836m above the sea level, the road is 1.5 km (0.93 miles) ending at 661masl. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 175m and the average gradient is 11.66%
With less than two kilometers in length, features sections in excess of 21%. This brutal climb makes Sormano look like a cake-walk.
