Located north of the Arctic Circle, the road comprises paved and unpaved sections, and it’s being improved lately to be fully paved. On the southern part, the road is fully paved. On the middle section, the road becomes unpaved in pretty good condition. At its northern part, the road is unpaved and rough in parts. A high-clearance vehicle is recommended.

The road is 75.3 km (46.78 miles) long, running north–south from Road 955 (near Pokka) to Road 80 (near Kittilä). It’s never been heavily used, so expect an absence of traffic.

Is Road 9552 worth the drive?

Running through forests, the road provides stunning views. The views from the road during the autumn season are the best. The ride is rather remote, so you need to be prepared. You can feel the silence of this uninhabited area. In case of a breakdown, there is very little in the way of passing traffic or inhabitants around.
