Its many twists, turns and narrows can pose a challenge to even the most experienced drivers. The road is open year-round; winter driving equipment is absolutely necessary in the winter. The road is not easy, though. Up, down, right, left all the time. The toll road is 7km and links the hamlet of Kals/Burg and the car park of Lucknerhaus Lodge, at 1.920m.

This road through the Ködnitztal Valley has innumerable twists and turns. The journey through high alpine surroundings offers an exhilarating driving experience, with superb views. An incredible journey, an unforgettable experience. This is definitely one road trip that you want to record with lots of photographs. Along the way, the drive offers views of glacier-carved valleys, daunting peak summits and wild and rugged countryside. There are lots of viewpoints, official and unofficial. The road is a delight to drive, with every kind of twist and turn. The spectacular views of the Großglockner, at 3,798m - Austria’s highest mountain- is the culmination of a memorable drive.
