Wurmkogl

Wurmkogl is a high mountain peak at an elevation of 3.023m (9,917ft) above the sea level, located in the Ötztal Alps of Tyrol, Austria. It's one of the highest roads of Europe.

Wurmkogl

At the summit there’s a viewing platform, panorama bar and real architectural attraction. A highlight in the real sense of the word. The road to the summit is extreme. Only 4x4 due its steepness. This way is characterised by snowfields even in late summer and by some very steep. The last 6.4 km are gravel, and the last three kilometers have an average grade of some 16%. The road is passable only in summers.
Avalanches, heavy snowfalls and landslides can occur anytime, being extremely dangerous due to frequent patches of ice. The drive is definitely worth it. A drive not to be missed! There are many excellent photo opportunities. Don't forget your camera with lots of film/memory, fully charged batteries and an empty memory card! The summit offers breathtaking 360-degree vistas for all senses. You can admire not only the Italian Dolomites in the south but also the entire Ötztal Alps - including Wildspitze peak - in the north.
