How to get by car to Edelweissspitze, the highest passable point of the Grossglockner High Alpine Road?
Edelweißspitze is a mountain peak at an elevation of 2,571m (8,435ft) above sea level, located in the Austrian state of Salzburg.

Where is the Edelweissspitze?
Located in the central part of the country, at the summit there’s a parking lot, a souvenir store as well as a mountain hut, the Edelweißhütte. Built in 1935 by Peter and Julianna Lederer, it has been one of the most popular destinations on the Bergstrasse ever since. At the summit there is a grand view of thirty-seven 3,000 m peaks and nineteen glaciers.
Is the road to Edelweissspitze paved?
The road to the summit is fully paved, with a few concrete parts. It comprises curves, hairpin turns, and very steep sections. The road is quite narrow, especially the last round, but it is nothing tough actually. However, due to its narrowness, the road is closed to caravans and vehicles heavier than 3.5Tn.
How long is the road to Edelweissspitze?
The road is very steep. Starting from the Grossglockner High Alpine Road, the ascent is 1.7km (1.05 miles) long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 175 meters and the average gradient is 10.29%.
