Starkenburger Hütte

The challenging unpaved road to Starkenburger Hütte

Starkenburger Hütte is a high mountain hut at an elevation of 2.237m (7,339ft) above the sea level, in the Stubai Alps, in the district Innsbruck-Land in the Austrian state of Tyrol.

The road to the summit is unpaved. It’s steep, narrow and impassable in winters. Slippery after rains. The surface on this gravel road is often loose, especially along the sides of the road. The refuge was built in 1900 and opens from beginning June to mid-October (up to weather conditions).
