Where is Lago Volaia-Wolayersee?
The lake is located near Passo Volaia, on the border between the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Carinthia in Austria, within the Lesachtal Valley. Near the lake there is a mountain hut known as Alpine Club Austria – Wolayerseehütte.
Is there a road to Lago Volaia-Wolayersee?
On the Austrian side, the road to the lake is totally unpaved, with loose gravel and rocky parts. It comprises very steep sections and 25 hairpin turns. 4x4 vehicles only. The last part of the climb is closed to private motor vehicles.
On the Italian side, there is no road, only a mule path.
